TagBack for schools

Lost property that sorts itself out.

Washable labels on uniform and one lost property station at school. Found items go in, the family is told automatically within a minute, and every item is logged. Your staff didn't join a school to sort lost property. With TagBack, they don't have to.

£0Your first station, set-up, training and support are free, for good. Then we pay your school a royalty on every label sale.

Most schools only need one station. If yours is larger, we'll plan any more with you at your first meeting. Sources: ClearScore uniform prices 2025/26; Stamptastic parent survey 2022.

Robust, fair and easy to explain to parents.

We believe every school should be able to say: if it's labelled, it goes home.

A reason to choose you

Show families you look after what they've paid for, and take real steps to get every labelled item home in the right bag.

Fair to everyone

Parents label, staff drop items in, families collect. The school's part ends at the station, and nobody has to play detective.

Time back for your staff

No sorting piles, no chasing parents, no “has anyone seen…?” emails. Lost property runs itself, so staff can teach.

One station. It does the matching, the telling and the handing back.

Three minutes, for heads and bursars
  1. We install the station

In your lost property area, using one 3-pin socket and your guest Wi-Fi. No cabling and no IT ticket.

  2. Families label their uniform

Parents join with your school's code and buy labels in the app, after your letter home.

  3. Staff and pupils drop items in

Anyone who finds lost property drops it in. The station reads the label and tells the family.

  4. Collected by PIN or staff code

Parents, or pupils at secondary, use a PIN. Staff sign items out with one code and a reason. Every removal is logged.

Untagged items still go in the same place and are handled the usual way. See the station in detail.

Ready for your DPO and safeguarding lead.

Data Protection Officers and safeguarding leads ask the same six questions. Here are the answers.

Can't track pupils

Labels hold only a random serial. Nothing reads them as pupils walk past; only TagBack readers and the parent app can.

Minimal data

First name and surname initial by default. No dates of birth, no photos of children and no child accounts, ever.

Vetted installer

Enhanced DBS check, signs in at reception, never unsupervised with pupils.

Safe on your network

Outbound connection only, with no open ports. No personal data is ever kept on the station itself.

UK GDPR

A data processing agreement, Data Protection Impact Assessment and privacy notices supplied.

Keeps running

A built-in backup battery keeps the station working through a power cut, and it reconnects on its own.

Your first station is free. For good.

The station, install and support are free, with a faulty station replaced within 24 hours. Then we pay you.

  • We pay you: a royalty on every label sale, paid termly to the school or PTA, or used to fund labels for families on benefits.
  • Everything to launch and stay compliant: impact assessment, policies, risk assessments, parent letters and staff training.
  • A school dashboard: what's in the station, oldest first, with reports by item, class and year.
  • Automated reports for staff: our API can connect to your MIS and tell form tutors which pupils have items waiting.
  • Reminders for uncollected items and an export for your uniform bank.

How it works for your uniform policy.

Your first station is free whichever route you choose. A mandatory policy earns a higher royalty.

Independent schools

Make labelling part of your uniform policy.

“All major items of uniform and PE kit are required to be labelled with TagBack from the first day.”
  • Mandatory policies earn the highest royalty rate.
  • Parent letters and uniform-list wording ready to send.

State schools

Keep uniform affordable. Still get it home.

“It is strongly expected that all major items of uniform are labelled with TagBack from the first day.”
  • Labels can be mandatory, or a strong expectation on the uniform list, which fits the guidance on keeping uniform affordable.
  • Family support: 50% off labels for families on benefits, bought through the school. Your royalty can go towards it.
Our social value commitment. Where more than 25% of your pupils receive free school meals or other income-related support, we'll work with you and your local council to supply labels at cost to us. Children from the poorest families gain the most when lost things come home, and we won't let price get in the way.

Your royalty, as a share of tag sales.

A share of full-price tag sales after VAT, not profit, paid termly. Indicative, by school size and uniform policy.

How the royalty works

Primary and senior together? Where a school's primary and senior phases both adopt TagBack, we count their pupils together, so you benefit from the higher rate for your combined size.

Postage and family support kits are not included. Rates are confirmed in your proposal, are subject to contract and our terms and conditions, and depend on our conversation with you.

Live in two terms, with tags already in uniform.

  1. Introductory call

30 minutes, by video or in person, about your school and timeline.

  2. Proposal

Your stations, royalty rate and dates, plus data and safeguarding paperwork.

  3. Families label up

Two terms for families to order and fit tags, with monthly take-up reports.

  4. Install and go live

Once take-up is reached, we install, train your staff and switch it on.

We install once tagged pupils reach 90% of the roll with a mandatory policy, 75% where labels are strongly expected, or 50% where they're optional.

What heads and bursars ask us.

What does it cost us?
Nothing for your first station: the station, installation, app, dashboard and support are free, for good. Most schools only ever need one station. If yours is larger, we'll plan any extra stations with you at your first meeting. Extra stations can be bought outright, or leased monthly by Direct Debit with a three-year minimum term.
What do our staff have to do?
Staff and pupils drop lost items in the station. TagBack tells the family, checks their PIN when they collect, and sends tutors automated reports.
Who collects items from the station?
In prep and primary schools, parents and teachers collect items. In secondary schools, pupils collect with their own PIN. Parents can always confirm in the app, and every collection is logged.
Can staff take an item out of the station?
Yes. Any member of staff can sign an item out with your school's staff code and choose a reason: reunited with the pupil, passed to a parent, or other, with a note. The family is told straight away and it's logged.
Can we try it first?
Yes. We're running trials from spring 2027 with a group of volunteer families for one half-term, then a review. If you don't continue, we remove the station and delete the data.
Does it work for independent and state schools?
Yes. Independent schools can make labels mandatory in their uniform policy. State schools can too, or set a strong expectation in the uniform list, which fits the guidance on keeping uniform affordable.
What about families who can't afford it?
Our family support scheme takes 50% off labels for families on income-related benefits, such as free school meals or pupil premium, when the school buys them in bulk. The school can choose to cover the rest. You tell us how many pupils qualify (numbers only, no names), we invoice the school and deliver the kits to you to hand out. In state schools where more than 25% of pupils receive free school meals or other income-related support, we work with you and your local council to supply labels at cost to us.

Bring TagBack to your school.

We're now taking orders for installation in the summer term 2027, ready for September. Current families have time to label their uniform, and new families start with tags in place from day one. Leave your details and we'll arrange a short call or visit.
