TagBack for parents

We're parents too. We know the feeling.

Our kids lose jumpers, blazers and water bottles like everyone else's. Some turn up weeks later. Some we buy again. TagBack is what we wanted for our own family: label it once, get it back every time.

Two minutes: how TagBack works

Label it once. Get it back every time.

Five steps, and only the first three take any effort.

  1. Download the app

Free on iPhone and Android. Join with your school's code and add your child.

  2. Buy your tags

Buy a starter kit in the app and it's posted to your home by Royal Mail First Class.

  3. Connect your tags

Scan each tag with your phone, name the item, then iron it in or zip it on.

  4. Lost? You'll know

When it's handed in at school, you get an app notification and an email within a minute.

  5. Collect with your PIN

Use your PIN at the station or confirm in the app. At secondary, your child can use their own. If a teacher hands it back, you're told.

Went home in the wrong bag? The other family taps the tag in the app, which opens an anonymous chat between your two families. Share details only if you choose to, and agree the hand-back that suits you: back to class, to the school office, or between yourselves.
Before you buy: alerts only work once your school has a TagBack station, so check first. Not on board yet? Start a campaign, or become a TagBack partner and introduce it yourself.

Built so it can't be used to track a child.

No names on labels

Just a random serial number and a QR code. Nothing on it identifies your child or your family.

No battery, no GPS

Labels have no power and no location. Only the school's station or the PIN-coded app can read them.

Phones reveal nothing

Any phone can tap a tag by NFC, but it only alerts the owner. It never shows who the child is.

School code protected

Only families at your school can report your item. Outside school, a scan just says hand it in to the school.

No child accounts

The app is for parents only. We never ask for a child's date of birth, photo or contact details.

Secure UK hosting

Your data is hosted in the UK or EU and encrypted. Marketing emails only if you opt in.

Simple prices, bought in the app.

Available once your school or nursery has joined. Delivered by Royal Mail First Class to your home. Prices include VAT.

Teddy Tags, for nurseries

Starting at nursery? Start with Teddy Tags.

Little ones lose more than anyone: cardigans, coats, comforters, spare clothes. Teddy Tags is TagBack for nurseries, with the same labels, the same app and the same privacy.

  • Your nursery shares its code; you buy the kit in the app when your child starts.
  • Nurseries never handle money and the station is free.
  • When your child moves to school, the labels and the app go with them.

Share it with your class chat. Bring TagBack to your school.

Start a campaign for your school, share it in your parents' WhatsApp group, and watch the number of families asking for TagBack grow. We take that number to your school.

  1. Start your school's campaign

Pick your school and get your own share link.

  2. Share it on WhatsApp

One tap sends the video and your link to your class chat.

  3. Parents say yes

Every “I want this” adds to your school's public count.

  4. We go to your school

With the number of families who've asked for it.

Or go straight to the head, bursar or PTA

Four pages for the school: why we built it, how it works, what it's worth to the school, and what it costs (nothing).

Started it? A free starter kit for every child in your household when your school signs up. Top sharers get a starter kit, an annual kit or hard tags for the most sign-ups. Rewards apply once your school joins TagBack; full terms will be published before campaigns open.

What parents ask us.

What if we move school?
If your new school has TagBack, just enter its school code in the app. All your tags move across in one go, with no need to re-pair a single one. If it doesn't have TagBack yet, your tags stay paired to your account, and you can introduce TagBack to the new school or become a TagBack partner.
What if our school stops using TagBack?
You keep your labels and the app. Your items stay paired to your account, and anyone who scans a tag is still asked to hand it in.
Do the labels survive the wash?
Yes, they're washable iron-in labels made for uniform, guaranteed for 500 washes. If one wears out or fails, we replace it free when you send a photo in the app.
What about second-hand uniform?
Tap “No longer mine” in the app and the next family taps “This is now mine”. The label goes with the item.
What if a teacher hands it back to my child?
Staff can sign an item out with a staff code. You get a notification saying what happened, such as “Item reunited with pupil”, and it comes off your lost items.
My school doesn't have TagBack yet. What can I do?
Three ways: start a campaign and share it in your class chat, email your school our information pack, or become a TagBack partner and introduce it yourself. The more parents ask, the stronger the case.
